The New Kia Seltos Is Truly Impressive

Just about everywhere you look, you can find an SUV on the road around Plymouth, MA and Cape Cod. It makes sense, since SUVs are versatile and offer an ideal amount of interior space. Kia is a company that has really made a lot of strides in recent years. It has designed many popular models, and one of its newest offerings is the Kia Seltos. This SUV has two rows of seating, a sizable cargo area, and plenty of modern technology that will bring attention to it.

Since there is 38 inches of leg room in the second row, it's suited for those situations in which you need to load up family or friends for a drive. The cargo area has a volume of 26.6 cubic feet. If you need to create more space, lower the rear seatbacks down to give yourself more than 62 cubic feet of cargo capacity.

As a new model, the 2021 Kia Seltos is positioned well for success. Because it's so nicely appointed and still comes with a reasonable starting cost, it's an intriguing choice for consumers. It can satisfy the desire to drive a vehicle that comes with a bit of excitement, and it can keep people happy with its price and efficiency.

Performance

There are two available engines with this SUV. You can choose from either a 2.0-liter engine or a 1.6-liter version. They both have four cylinders, but only the one with the smaller displacement has a turbocharger. This results in greater capability, and it can make a noticeable difference in terms of how quickly the Kia Seltos can accelerate and how well it can handle itself when driving with heavy loads. To be specific, the 2.0-liter engine can generate 146 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. In contrast, the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine can churn out 174 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.

Front-wheel and all-wheel drive are both available. For some of you, front-wheel drive would be sufficient, as you'll hardly ever be driving in the snow or ice. Likewise, you may not be preparing to go off-roading in rough terrain, so having power sent to your front wheels would totally get the job done. For others, all-wheel drive is almost a necessity. It can improve traction by quite a bit, and it can be reassuring to have if you ever run into slippery conditions.

Note that the standard engine has been paired with an Intelligent Variable Transmission, while the other engine uses a seven-speed quick-shift automatic transmission. It's estimated that a Kia Seltos with the 2.0-liter engine can achieve up to 34 miles per gallon on the highway and 29 miles per gallon when driving in the city. Having the turbocharged engine and/or all-wheel drive would reduce these numbers slightly, but the truth is that the Kia Seltos is fairly efficient with any type of configuration.

Safety

The Kia Seltos can come with the ability to keep an eye out for potential problems. This can give you some extra peace of mind as you travel around the area. You can have more confidence when you're behind the wheel, knowing that your vehicle can help you avoid accidents. Forward collision avoidance-assist can work to lower the chances of getting involved in frontal collisions. High beam assist can make it easier to see what's ahead of you at night. Lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and lane following assist all work together to keep you centered in your lane and out of the way of other drivers. There are other monitoring systems that can watch out for vehicles that you can't see, like those in your blind spot or cars that are crossing behind you while you're trying to back up. In some cases, your vehicle could gently correct your steering and apply pressure to the brakes so that you don't end up getting hit by another driver.

Besides all of these advanced components, the Kia Seltos has numerous safety features that are standard. For instance, every seating position has a three-point seatbelt, downhill brake control helps limit acceleration while driving down a slope, and the multiple airbags are always ready to protect you and your passengers.

Technology

Standard on the Kia Seltos is an eight-inch touchscreen. It includes Bluetooth, smartphone compatibility, and voice recognition. If you'd prefer to have something more advanced, there's an available 10.25-inch touchscreen. It comes with navigation and SiriusXM Satellite Radio, two components that are becoming much more popular these days. If you love listening to music, you might consider getting a Kia Seltos with a Bose premium audio system. Some trims have multiple USB ports and wireless charging, and all models have at least one USB port and a 12-volt power outlet.
